Lovely, Lovely Laminate

Mike and I decided to replace our crappy carpet with some beautiful laminate flooring ... how hard could it be, right?

We discovered that carpet covers a multitude of sins ... like poorly leveled concrete patching. Mike spent HOURS chiseling away at this particular piece of concrete to try to make it level. Not fun.

Spring Break with the Boys

Jaron and Matt visited our Old Kentucky Home for Spring Break this year ... and a good time was had by all.

We went to Cincinnati and enjoyed some time at the art museum. We ate ribs and burgers (and Cheesecake Factory), went to a play and overall had a lovely time.

Livin' in Cinci

So, this is my month in the Cincinnati Children's Hospital emergency department. It is supposedly one of the busiest pediatric ERs in the country. I have to admit, I kind of hated it at first ... it's kind of hard learning a new hospital and everything. And I've discovered that I'm a complete homebody ... I really, really hate being away from home. And by home I really mean Mike. Yep, I'm just kind of pathetically in love with my husband. Oh, well. But I'm starting to come around ... Cinci Children's is a pretty cool hospital even if it is overwhelmingly big. And everyone here is pretty nice. And I actually like Cincinnati as a city (I would recommend a visit if anyone's considering it - it's fun here). I'm not a huge fan of emergency medicine ... half the time I'm wondering "wouldn't it have just been easier to see a regular doctor during regular office hours for your child's cold that he's had for 5 days instead of coming to the ER at 4 in the morning?" But such is the way of things. Anyway, I'm over halfway done with my rotation and I get to go home today for two whole days! Yay! And maybe I can make it over to IKEA sometime next week ... there are definite perks to being in a big city ...

We have a boring blog ...

... but that's going to change, I promise. For one thing, we just got a new computer. So doing our blogs will be much more fun. Yep, we finally said goodbye to the good old HP dad got me about ... oh ... 8 years ago. Which we all know is more like 80 in computer years. Yikes. 

I'm very, very excited to head back to Iowa in 23 days! (not that I'm counting)

I just finished my second month in the PICU ... it is not a happy place a lot of the time. I am sooo glad to be out of there (although I have to cover the PICU over Christmas ... but we won't talk about that).

Mike and I are on opposite schedules this month ... I have normal 8-5 days, but he works the 1pm-11pm ER shift. It pretty much stinks. No likey. But I think it helps us not take each other for granted!
