Baby Ben Is Growing

I can't believe Baby Ben is almost 3 weeks old already! He weighs nine pounds now - some of his newborn clothes are starting to get a little tight. I'm choking back tears right now.

We enjoyed a visit this weekend from Nana Vonne and Grandpa Tom!

Baby Ben had his first outing to a restaurant - he did very well. And he looked awfully cute in his little bear outfit.

He also went on his first walk with mommy and daddy - it was a big weekend for him!

Whoa! First mohawk (and daddy's first efforts at hairstyling).

Here are some videos of Baby Ben in action for those who requested them (Aunt Amy).
He's not really doing anything super-exciting, but you can see how cute he is live.

Baby Ben Is 2 Weeks Old!

Baby Ben celebrated his 2-week birthday yesterday! I can hardly believe it's been two weeks already - my baby is growing up so fast! He had his 2-week well child check at the pediatrician today - his weight is up to 8 pounds, 11 ounces! Yay!

He has a wide variety of facial expressions - I think this is the "I'm sleepy, stop taking pictures" expression.

His umbilical cord fell off, so he was able to get a real bath!

Baby Ben's Bath!

On Baby Ben's one-week birthday, we gave him a good sponge bath. Now, I know I'm a pediatrician, but I still googled "how to give a sponge bath" and followed the instructions on the Johnson&Johnson website. This is just one example of how my medical training has left me completely unprepared to actually be a parent. Oh, well.

Baby Ben enjoyed the shampoo part of the bath very much. He was less than enthused about the rest of it.

Here's mommy working on her styling techniques ... not sure what to do about those sideburns yet.

Oh, that face - so adorable. So, so adorable. How could anyone resist that face? Mommy and Daddy sure can't.

Thomas Benjamin Farley

Well the day finally came. Lianne was induced (with pitocin) at about 8 AM yesterday and by 8 PM we had the newest Farley boy in our arms! Lianne did a great job!!! I feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful wife and for God to give us this beautiful baby boy filled my heart beyond words. Amazing.
Well I could go on but let me show you our son, Baby Benjamin Farley..8 lbs, 8oz; 20 3/4 inches and a full head of hair!

Looking good after his first bath.

Lianne and I are very grateful to now be a family of 3!

Family and Friends: thank you all for all your prayers and well wishes! We love you and are excited to share this new life with you.

Ready for baby!

We've made it to full-term - yay! As of today's date I am 39 weeks and 5 days - wow! And I think we're finally ready for this baby ... so he can come anytime now. Anytime. Are you listening, baby?

37 weeks - Mike likes to try out new stuff with his camera. I have quite the belly bump when viewed as a silhouette.

38 weeks - where are my feet?

39 weeks - still happy to be pregnant! But really, he can come anytime. Anytime now.

So, here was our project for the baby's room ... turn this sad bookshelf into a cute baby-room bookshelf!

I decided to do a little mod-podge action (a new venture for me) ... I decoupaged some cute scrapbook paper onto a piece of thick cardboard for the backing of the bookshelf. Here's when I was done and let me tell you, I was pretty proud of myself.

And then ... I had this sinking feeling in my stomach that something just wasn't quite right. In this picture, I believe I am saying "I've made a huge mistake."

What you can't really see in that picture is that the cute pattern of the paper is sideways. Yep. I decoupaged all the paper onto the cardboard in the completely wrong orientation. It was a sad moment.
But, we managed to make some adjustments and saved all my hard work ... just don't look at the back of the bookshelf, it's not nearly as pretty as it was intended to be (thank goodness no one can see that part!).

Here I am, happy with our baby's bookshelf. All is well.

And here is our baby's room! The wall decals (applied very nicely by daddy - he's a talented man) are sooooo cute!

So ... he can come anytime now.
